The scale on the tool
These are the resident rates with the full tax-free threshold. They do not include the Medicare levy.
| Taxable income | Tax on this income |
|---|---|
| $0 to $18,200 | Nil |
| $18,201 to $45,000 | 15c per $1 over $18,200 |
| $45,001 to $135,000 | $4,020 plus 30c per $1 over $45,000 |
| $135,001 to $190,000 | $31,020 plus 37c per $1 over $135,000 |
| $190,001 and over | $51,370 plus 45c per $1 over $190,000 |
Medicare levy
Most residents pay 2% of taxable income. On the latest Australian Taxation Office table for a single person who is not on the seniors and pensioners offset, nothing is payable at or below $28,011, and a reduced levy shades in until $35,013. Above that, the levy is the full 2%. A full-time minimum wage sits above that upper line, so the shade-in does not change it.
The low income offset is separate. It is worth up to $700 and only reduces tax. It does not arrive as a cash payment.
Super
From 1 July 2026 the super guarantee is 12% of ordinary time earnings, up to a maximum contribution base of $270,830 in 2026–27. In most job ads this is paid on top. The clearance tool only pulls super out of the figure when you choose “Includes super”.
